I went home to visit my family this weekend as my Dad retired on Friday after 45 years.
We spent a lovely evening together as a family listening to stories from him, eating his favourite food and drinking Champagne
I know that I could never, ever thank him enough for everything he's done for me over the past 25 years and I will forever be in debt to him for the hard and tireless work he has continued to do in order to provide me with such an incredibly privileged life.
If it wasn't for him, I certainly wouldn't be the person I am today...
He spent most of his career in the RAF - from the ages of 20 (I think!) to 55...
After leaving the air force he took a position running a charity that supports our Armed Forces and now, ten year later he is retiring.
He is SUCH an incredibly inspiring person and is completely and total selfless, especially when it comes to his family. He always puts us first, no matter what. He would take food out of his starving mouth if he thought one of us was 'a bit peckish'.
He is always there for us and only ever switches his phone off when me, my sisters and my Mum are all with him in the same place.
And now he looks forward to a retirement spent pottering down the allotment, hanging out with my Mum and volunteering for a local charity.
...from the bottom of my heart, thanks Dad you are AMAZING!
